Community Mediation & Restorative Services, Inc believes training is an effective strategy as we seek to develop the capacity of our community to respectfully resolve conflict and repair harm. We collaborate with other mediation and restorative parties to create more opportunities for people to participate in transformative, skill-building experiences.

Training/Events

30 Hour Civil Mediation Training 

Civil mediation focuses on conflict resolution skills, the art of mediation, inclusive and reflective listening, negotiations and how community mediation is social justice work. Gain conflict resolution skills through this live training (via Zoom) and then volunteer for a local conflict dispute resolution program as a mediator.

All who are interested in becoming a civil mediator are welcome to attend Community Mediation Minnesota’s online 30 Hour Civil Mediation Skills Training.  Attending all 30 hours is required in order to meet Minnesota Rule 114 Civil Mediation requirements. Those who complete this course can apply to become Minnesota Qualified Neutrals on the Minnesota Supreme Court Civil Facilitative/Hybrid Neutral Roster.  CLE Credits can be earned.

Dates of training: Wednesday Jan. 5, Saturday Jan. 8, Monday Jan. 10, Tuesday Jan. 11, Thursday Jan 13, Tuesday Jan. 18, Thursday Jan. 20. Time: 12-4pm Location: ZOOM

The cost of this civil mediation training for those intending to volunteer for a Community Dispute Resolution Program (CDRP) ranges from $0-$150 (Scholarships are available). If interested email referrals@cmrsmn.org for scholarship info.

If you do not plan to volunteer with a Community Dispute Resolution Program (CDRP) the training fee is $700 and includes CLE credit if needed.

CMRS directly and indirectly offers a variety of continuing education opportunities each year, including a 6-hour conference every Fall.
